Skinimalism Guide: Simplify Routine, Maximise Results

on

Skin care routines are always a hot topic online. Remember the days when beauty influencers shared 13+ step skin care routines? Sure, it looked luxe (who wouldn’t want that?) -  but are all of those ingredients really working together to give the best possible results?

Sometimes, the best skincare routine prioritises simple, effective products to help you achieve your natural glow.

Here’s our expert guide to simplifying your daily routine while maximising results.

How to Create Your Own Minimal Skin Care Routine

A minimal daily routine is all about getting some good basics that you can use everyday. Here are a few of our faves for the best skin care routine products that every minimal routine needs:

Here are just a few essentials that we think every good skin care routine needs:

Cleanser

A good cleanser should always be the first step in your routine. Cleansers are there to sweep away all the makeup, pollution, and natural oils so your skin can breathe again.

Choose gel cleansers for oily skin, cream cleansers for dry or sensitive types, or just a dab of micellar water for something super light. Once you find your perfect cleanser, you’ll never look back.

And always rinse with lukewarm water (not hot!) to avoid stripping your skin.

Toner

Toners work wonders for restoring your skin’s natural pH after cleansing and prep your face to soak up all the goodness from serums and moisturisers.

Think of it as that refreshing in-between step that balances your complexion, tightens pores, all while adding a little boost of hydration.

Look for alcohol-free toners with ingredients like rose water, chamomile, or witch hazel. Just a few dabs on a cotton pad (or even pressed in with your hands) can leave your skin feeling fresh and ready for the next step in your routine.

Exfoliators

Every good skin care routine needs exfoliation. It’s an essential step for removing dead skin cells and letting fresh skin shine through. But most people don’t need to use it every day. In fact, it’s better to use exfoliants just a couple of times a week, especially if you have sensitive skin.

If you do want to use a stronger chemical exfoliant like retinol, it can be amazing for reducing fine lines and wrinkles. Just make sure to start super small (once a week with a tiny amount of product) and build your way up.

If your skin reacts with dryness or redness, it’s best not to continue using retinol as it can be harsh for some people’s skin barrier. And remember - always, always, always moisturise after cleansing and exfoliating.

Moisturiser

Skin hydration is the number one most important factor in a good skincare routine. Good daily face moisturisers are perfect for giving your skin that dewy glow while preventing dryness, wrinkles, and soothing sensitive skin. Bonus points if it has SPF!

For an easy night-time skin fix, use rich, moisturising serums to brighten your skin’s radiance, texture, and a bit of extra TLC.

SPF

And of course, everyone knows SPF is an everyday essential - no exceptions. It’s your ultimate defence against premature ageing, sun damage, and dark spots. Even cloudy days.

Make it the last step in your everyday morning routine, find moisturisers with SPF included, or layer under make-up. You’ll thank yourself later.
